Rules—Official Middle School Ethics Bowl Rules and Regulations
The Middle School Ethics Bowl (MSEB) rules are the same as the High School Ethics Bowl (HSEB) rules with a few exceptions listed below.
1. One “team” may consist up to ten members.
2. A school may compete with up to three teams for a total of thirty students. These teams will compete as independent teams. As such, team players on one team may not substitute for a different team. Also, these separate teams will likely compete against each other.
A. Case selection—Cases will be the same as the High School Ethics Bowl Regional Cases for the year. However, the total number of possible cases will be reduced to six. This year the cases are numbers 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 11. (Click here for the 2017-2018 Middle School Ethics Bowl cases.)
B. The initial question from the moderator posed to the team before their presentation will be one of the three questions listed for the given case.
Note: In the High School Ethics Bowl, this initial question might be a different question than one of the three questions posted on the case sheet (p.5 section D "Case Questions" of the 2016-2017 NHSEB Rules).
Students may bring their, team prepared, written documents such as notes, outlines, responses to questions, etc.
